Dharwad, Aug 27: "No one expects Yediyurappa-led government in the state to last long. It is very difficult to run the government on the basis of rebels. As per a Kannada adage, survival of children who consume milk is difficult. How can we expect children feeding on poison to survive?" he questioned sarcastically.

He was speaking to reporters at Hubballi on Monday, August 26. He predicted that the current government in the state, which rose to power on the basis of backdoor politics, cannot last long.

On the issue of charges levelled against him by H D Kumaraswamy and Deve Gowda, Siddaramaiah said that he has already replies to all the charges in detail. "They want to reap political benefit by making me a scapegoat. But people have realized about their political conspiracies and ploy," he stated.

He said that the central study team is expected to disburse compensation to food-hit people, but the centre has not released any money to Karnataka for this purpose so far. He accused Yediyurappa of wavering on the issue of estimating the loss, pointing out that on one occasion, he had mentioned the loss as Rs 50,000 crore while on the other, he said Rs 40,000 crore.

Siddaramaiah said that in view of the short expected life span of the current government, he has already asked the party workers to strengthen the party as election can be held anytime now. He criticized state BJP ministers of frequenting between New Delhi and Bangaluru instead of touring flood-hit districts. He charged the chief minister and ministers of failing to bring huge relief from the centre to make good loss through flood. He said that he is not bothered about how many deputy chief ministers the BJP government has, but predicted the downfall of the government as the people are waiting to teach them a fitting lesson.
