Bahrain: Maxim Sequeira to Lead Karnataka Social Club
Media release by Joe Andrade

Bahrain, Jun 28: After a long gap of over 2 years, Karnataka Social Club, during the last General Body Meeting held recently, elected a new brand of vibrant Officers to run the affairs of the Club for the tern 2009-2010.

The proceedings of the Meeting which were conducted in a cordial manner,  unanimously selected and elected Maxim Sequeira, a veteran resident of the island and a successful businessman to head the Honorary Committee as the President of the Club.

The other team members of the Hon.Committee with their respective designations duly elected unanimously in compliance with parliamentary procedures from the floor of the house are:

Vice President –Gustav Furtado

General Secretary – Richard Pais

Asst. General Secretary – Jerome Pinto

Treasurer – Sunil D’Souza

Asst. Treasurer – Sebastian Alva

Entertainment Secretary – Rajesh Prabhu

Asst. Entertainment Secretary – Sandra Alvares

Sports Secretary – Millard Rodrigues

Committee Member – Alwyn Alva

The new team is all out and determined to organize sports, cultural and social programs to the likeness and tastes of all its members in a spirit of goodwill and camaraderie that is unique only to Karnataka Social Club renowned on the island and fondly referred to as a “Family Club”.        In fact, the past memorable history of the Club if we go down memory’s lane speaks volumes of it being a family fortress exuding the warmth sublime to all its members from a cross section of the Indian society, not just limited to Karnatakans.     Many are they who have gone through its portals and left the island if not for better pastures elsewhere, to a life of retirement back to their native home with cherished memories and tales of a fond and loving association with the Club and its multi-faceted vibrant activities.

The President, Maxim Sequeira, minces no words in categorically stating his strong commitment to the Club along with his dynamic team members, to bring in the nostalgia of the past years gone by in making every program they undertake enthusiastically entertaining and beckoning.       “Our main aim besides, is also to encourage new members to join the Club and increase the membership strength of 150 as it stands today” he says.     This will help encourage his team to organize innovative entertainment programs every weekend, month after month, during their term.      He has appealed to Members to suggest new ideas and come forth with sponsorships.     Most of all, attendance of members with their families during Weekends and at Club’s functions in large numbers would go a long way in rejuvenating the vibrant spirits of the Club.

With the Holiday Season for school children commencing July, the Club has scheduled a fun-filled Summer Camp for the Children as well as guest Children from 4 to 7 p.m. every Fridays commencing 4th July organized by the Ladies Wing and dedicated volunteers.    For more details of the Summer Camp and for Registration,  kindly contact the Club on telephone:17-254257.

Another added attraction during the month of July is the July Rose Contest program  which will be held on Thursday, 16th July, 2009, from 8.00 p.m. at the Papillon Restaurant, Manama.

Let us wish Maxim Sequeira and his team of Committee members a successful term in office and all the best in giving the best of entertainment to the members and their families.

Dear Max, Although I have congratulated you several times, after seeing this great article with a lovely photograph of the Committee of KSC (a family club), I was compelled to write a few words. First of all, thanks a million for accepting the post of KSC President despite your busy schedule and coming forward to serve our community with a lot of new ideas.

The two programmes organized by KSC recently were already successful and as the KSC Ladies Wing Main Coordinator, I am very proud to be associated with the dynamic personalities within the committee and I extend my whole hearted support to you and your team. My very special wishes to Sandra as she is the only lady in the committee and is doing a great job for KSC.

My special wishes to Richard Pais, Rajesh Prabhu, Millard, Sebestian Alva and Sunil D''Souza as they have been offering their selfless service from many years. Finally, I wish Gustav,Jerome and Alwyn all the best in their new positions. Cheers and keep up the good work, you guys.

Hello Maxi I was happy to note that you have taken over the reins of the popular family club called Karnataka Social Club. I recognised familiar faces of Richard, Rajesh & Sandra. I am sure you have an energitic committee who will strive to rejain past glory. I was sad to note that membership has dwindled to 150 in recent times compared to over 600 when I was the President in 1982. Continue the good work you did during your stint as member of several utive committees. I am sure you have the good wishes of ex- Committee members, and past members like myself who had a wonderful time being members of this prestigious club. I cherish the fond memories of 21 years with the club. My best wishes for the future.
