Fr Alton D'Souza, rector, St Lawrence Basilica, Attur, Karkala hoisted the flag and inaugurated the novena prayers.

In his homily, Fr Alton D’Souza said, “Mary is the one who comes to our aid in times of need. She is the protector of all humankind and the source of strength for each of us. In the midst of life’s struggles, she stands with us, in our suffering, she comes to our rescue. Mary is present in every household. She is the heart of Christianity. We may face challenges, be it financial, health-related, or other problems but Mary will always be with us. She will save us and bless us.
