Mangaluru, Aug 30: The airport in the city had a special kind of aircraft landing on its tarmac on the afternoon of Thursday, August 29. Seaplane, that is capable of landing in both water and land, landed in the international airport here.

This private flight that was flying from Colombo to Abu Dhabi landed in the Mangaluru International Airport for refueling. As this was a private seaplane only pilot was there. The flight was on its return journey after dropping a person to Colombo from Abu Dhabi. A few days ago itself, the pilot had requested the Mangaluru International Airport officials for permission to refuel the aircraft. Accordingly, the airport officials allowed the landing and refueling of the seaplane.

This kind of seaplane is common in foreign countries. A tourism plan is formed in Kerala to use this type of seaplanes also. Discussion regarding the introduction of these seaplanes in tourism in the coastal region of Karnataka has also taken place earlier.
