Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai (SR)

Mumbai, Aug 31: Congress party leader and ex-president Rahul Gandhi has been summoned by a metropolitan magistrate’s court in a defamation case filed against him by a BJP member.

State BJP leader Mahesh Shrishrimal had filed defamation case against Rahul for calling PM Narendra Modi “commander-in-thief”, last year, over the Rafale fighter jet deal.

The Magistrate's court has issued summons on Aug 28 asking the congress MP to appear, either in person or through his lawyer, on October 3.

BJP Leader Mahesh Shrishrimal said,  “Rahul, by calling the PM commander-in-thief during a rally last year, had defamed Modi as well as BJP workers.”
