Mangaluru, Aug 31: Veteran Congress leader, former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah who arrived at Mangaluru airport this morning, visited Pachanady where people are displaced and facing hardships due to large heaps of trash flowing over houses and plantations causing destruction. He met the victims and listened to their grievances.
Rajesh Bhat, a local, placed before Siddaramaiah, the difficulties faced by the residents in the surrounding areas. He gave the details of work taken up by Mangaluru City Corporation commissioner Mohammed Nazeer to help them. Former minister U T Khader explained to Siddaramaiah the problems faced by locals.
Siddaramaiah speaking to reporters said that the garbage slide needs to be cleared immediately. “Those who are displaced should be paid suitable compensation and made provision should be made for them to live,” he said.
He was accompanied by former MLA U T Khader, former MLA Mohiuddin Bava, MLC Ivan D’ Souza, former mayor Bhasker Moily and a large number of Congress activists.

Mangaluru, Aug 31: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah arrived at Mangaluru International Airport on Saturday August 31.
Speaking to the media Siddaramaiah said, "The Enforcement Directorate is being misused against D K Shivakumar for political reasons by the government. If he has committed any mistake, then action can be taken as per the law. But it is not right to take action just for political rivalry. We will fight accordingly as per law.
Siddaramaiah will visit Pacchanady to address the grievances of the victims of garbage slide. He will further visit Beltangady taluk and meet flood-affected residents.
He will then visit Dharmastala temple. Later at 4 pm, he will address party representatives at town hall.
