Shivamogga, Aug 31: A mother of a young married woman tried to commit suicide by consuming an overdose of sleeping pills accusing a catholic priest of having illicit relation with her daughter on the pretext of getting married and deceived at the end. This incident has taken place in the city and a case stands registered against the church priest in the police station.

A complaint in this regard is registered against Fr Allwyn Serrao, parish priest at St Antony's Church of Ragigudda. The priest used to show extraordinary interest in the issues of a 24-year-old married young woman who used to come to the church and later developed illicit relationship with her.

In her complaint, the young woman, said that she had approached the parish priest to seek solution for the differences she had with her husband. In her complaint the young woman has alleged that the priest used to visit her house frequently on the pretext of counselling the lady and her husband and got intimate with her. The young woman further says that the parish priest promised to marry her, after she got divorce from her husband but started to avoid her once the divorce was done. The complaint also says that the priest tried to threaten the young woman and her family members.

Fr Allwyn recently went to Italy alone. The mother of the young women who thought that the priest has deceived her daughter tried to kill herself by taking an overdose of sleeping pills. She was admitted to a hospital and has recovered now. Later, she filed a complaint in this regard with the women's police station of the town.
