Udupi, Sep 1: Udupi has made all the preparations to celebrate Gauri Ganesha festival on September 2. People preparing idols have applied final coat of colour, decorated the Ganapa prepared by them and are waiting for customers. Ganapas in various poses such as Gaja Kesari, Sindoora Ganapa, Bala Ganapa etc can be seen displayed in shops.

People are busy buying sugarcane that is Ganapa’s favourite and decoration items. Large podiums are made ready to keep Ganesha in public place along with colourful lights. Devotees are waiting to take their idols to their houses.

There is festival atmosphere in Car Street, Udupi. As Gauri comes home tomorrow, women are seen buying pooja items and sweets to welcome her. Heaps of sugarcanes can be seen in Car Street. Children are looking forward to child Ganapa.

Some people are complaining that the economic situation is bad now and there is no extra money to celebrate festivals.
