Bengaluru, Sep 5: In barbs indirectly aimed at deputy chief minister (DCM) C N Ashwath Narayan, former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, wondered how people who had led people who torched BBMP files are now claiming themselves to be harbingers of modern India.

Speaking to reporters at the JD(S) office on Wednesday September 4, Kumaraswamy directly attacked Ashwath Narayan by addressing him as the 'great man from Malleshwaram'. "This man collected money from various people for demolishing the coalition government. Even now he has been offering posts of chairpersons of corporations and boards in addition to Rs 20 crore in cash to MLAs from other parties if they change loyalties. How can such people claim to stop corruption? Does he have any sense of respect and shame?" he questioned sarcastically.

He said that those who oppose the BJP are being tortured now. "If someone has illegally earned money, he can be acted against. There is no need for arresting such persons. Where were these income tax and enforcement directorate officials when the BJP leaders were offering crores of rupees to Congress and JD(S) legislators to cross over and engineer the downfall of the coalition government? he questioned angrily.

He termed as false Yediyurappa's assurance of not resorting to politics of revenge. "I know what he is up to. Do you think he went to Mumbai to discuss Mahadayi issue? I know everything," he said.

H D Revanna noted that the BJP does not think it was wrong for them to take away legislators of other parties to Mumbai. He criticized BJP leaders for talking as if Shivakumar was wrong in protecting Gujarat legislators against poaching. He said that the central government is trying to demolish the opposition parties, which is not a good development, duly warning that it will one day act as boomerang for the BJP.
