Mangaluru, Sep 5: An inter-collegiate event organised by Sarosh Institute of Hotel Administration 'Rendezvous 2K19' was organised by the second year students under the guidance of staff coordinator Neil D'Souza on September 4 at the college campus.
The event had ten teams participating in 18 events throughout the day in PU and Degree category.
The chief guest for the inaugural ceremony was Aravind Bolar (famous actor,Tulu Cinemas) lovingly called Tulunada Manikya. Aravind Bolar, in his speech as chief guest, spoke on the importance of respecting teachers, elders and parents as they are the prime essence of our lives on this earth. He stressed on taking the words of teachers as positive blessings in our lives to be better than what we are. He mentioned that success of any event organised in the college is the hard work and dedication put in by the students working for the event. He further spoke about his childhood and career and quoted them as an example for the gathering that General Knowledge is very important to come up in life. Just a degree or any educational qualification is solely not enough to build a career. He mentioned that whatever level they reach in life and whatever technology they may have in life, they must ensure that they talk to their family members at home and to take care of them.
He further mentioned his famous movie dialogue to entertain the entire gathering present who had a very good time during his speech.
Aravind Bolar was then felicitated by the organising committee of Rendezvous along with senior lecturers Veda Rai and Uday Menon.
The different events of the day were then carried out for both PU and degree sections simultaneously. The events held were news bulletin, photography, face painting, flower arrangement, mystery box, cocktail, dumb charades, Mr/Ms Rendezvous, variety entertainment, cooking without fire, quiz, mocktail, one minute to fame, video making, treasure hunt.
The judges for the day were Santosh Andrade, Sandricca D'Souza, Vinod, Fidel, Lanwin Lobo
The eventful day came to a close with the final round of Mr/Ms Rendezvous.

All teams were given participation certificates and then the winners in each event in both categories were awarded.
In the PU section, the runners up were, St Agnes PU College and overall champions were St Aloysius PU College. In the degree section, the runners up were School of Social Work, Roshini Nilaya and the overall champions were St Agnes College (Autonomous).
Bavith Karkera of 3rd year compered the programme for the day. Thrishool Shetty (student coordinator) rendered the welcome address and Neil D'Souza (staff coordinator) expressed the vote of thanks.
The evening chief guest spoke on the importance of technology in everyday life and delivered an important message that even though we use the best of technology, we should not forget our originality and creativity in life.
