Mangaluru, Sep 6: Taking to Twitter to share the success story of his '#Nanna Gastu Nanna Hemme' (My Beat, My Pride) concept, an initiative of active patrolling with the participation of the citizens in the city, police commissioner here, Dr P S Harsha, said that an accused, identified as Shekhabba, who had been absconding since the last three decades relating to a crime case in Ullal, was taken into custody. He said that Shekhabba could be found and arrested on the basis of information gathered from the members of the patrol squad.

He has congratulated the informants concerned on behalf of his commissionerate. He conveyed his thanks to the members of the public forming part of the patrol squads.

Details: A case had been registered in Ullal police station against two accused, Mohammed and Shekabba, relating to assaulting Pakeera Beary at Kukkudakatte in Kinya village within Ullal police station limits on November 22, 1989. The current location of Shekabba, who had evaded court appearances since the last 30 years, Shekabba (50), son of Ahmed Kunhi, residing at Belaringe Kinya, was found by the patrol squad. The squad, in tune with people-friendly beet system, which functions under the directions of deputy police commissioner (law and order) in the city, Arunankshugiri, deputy police commissioner (crime and traffic) here, Laxmi Ganesh, and assistant police commissioner of city (south) division, Kodandarama, Ullal police inspector, Gopikrishna K R and police sub-inspector, Gurappa Kanthi, head constable Suresh from Ullal station on beet duty who collected information about the accused from beet members, arrested Shekabba with the support of some other police personnel on Thursday September 5 morning from Belaringe in Kinya village. The arrested person was also produced in the court.
