Mangaluru: Drive against faulty number plates - 40 more vehicles booked

Mangaluru, Sep 6: The drive against vehicles with faulty registration number plates, initiated by Dr Harsha P S, is continuing in full swing in the city.

The cops booked 40 vehicles in this connection on Friday, September 6.

On September 4, as many as 75 vehicles were seized and fined.

A statement with regards to this drive from the commissioner of police says, "Vehicles without registration number plates and faulty ones are assumed to be used for illegal activities. We will continue this drive. I appeal all the citizens, owning or driving vehicles to ensure that their vehicles carry registration number plates in compliance with the law."

    What about Kannada number plates? Are the police taking action on Kannada number plates as well?

    Why not give proper description on the right proper license plates so that all the owners can get it done? Throughout the article, neither Police commissioner not the reporter mentions about this.

    Very good work from our new Commissioner of Police Dr Harsha. Weldon sir. But don't return the vehicles to those who have violated the rules. Better make it scapes and dispose it. Then only we can set right the things. If the vehicles are under Bank loan , then it is banks duty to check the vehicles at the time of yearly inspection. Make also one party.

    Dear police commissioner,

    Your action is commendable and falls within the law, so no one can fume on it. I would appreciate if you act to check the road worthiness of the vehicle concerning brake lights, turn signal lights, number plate lights, shrill horns etc. which are a must to prevent road accidents. Further, lane discipline is not followed by slow moving and heavily loaded vehicles, 2 and 3 wheelers, buses by using the fast lane thereby obstructing the smooth movement of vehicles. The lane discipline should be instilled in all vehicle users. In foreign countries it is monitored by technology and in our country it could be monitored by utilizing the manpower available until we reach to that stage. Let everyone drive safely caring for his/her own life and lives of others. Let every human being using the road remain safe.

    I have always said on this platform that action should be taken against vehicles without,false,temp number plates as they are used for illegal purposes and cannot be tracked.. At last concrete action is being taken. Instead of concentrating on no helmet and seatbelts this drive should continued permanently as these people are a danger to the society.

    If the commissioner is serious let him first check the PY registrations
    Haressing 2 wheeler owners is their only aim .Also there is
    An understanding between the kadri cops and the towing team
    If a bribe of 800 is given which has to be done discreetly .its all about
    Making money
