Mangalore: Lokayukta Police Raid SI’s House - Begin Investigation into Assets

Mangalore, Jul 8: As part of statewide raids, the Lokayukta police began their investigation into the assets of A D Nagaraj, police sub-inspector for railway department, Bangalore on Wednesday July 8. Nagaraj earlier had served as sub-inspector in Kavoor police station and also District Crime and Intelligence Bureau (DCIB) in the city.
The Lokayukta team led by deputy superintendent of police Sadananda Varnekar and inspector Udaya Nayak began its investigation by an enquiry in a house, Mahalingeshwara Kripa - Pareekshit near Gandhinagar, Kavoor owned by PSI Nagaraj. Meanwhile another team is carrying on its investigations in Puttur where Nagaraj jointly owns a property with one of his friends.
The department began its investigation following complaints that he has amassed wealth disproportionate to his earnings. The basic information gathered puts the value of his assets to about Rs 1 crore. But only final investigation will help in determining actual value of his assets.
The investigation began at around 6.30 in the morning all over the state. Three more officials from various other departments are under the radar of the Lokayukta. The final details of the investigations will be made public only in the evening by Lokayukta Justice N Santhosh Hegde.
