Bangalore, Jul 11: Chief Minister B S Yedduprappa said that he would be writing a detailed letter to the Prime Minister about the conspiracy behind the continued communal disturbances in Mysore. He asserted that a conspiracy was behind the clashes, with the main aim of the conspirators being defaming of the government.
"A well-planned conspiracy is behind creating a tense situation in Mysore. Activists had been summoned from various places including Kerala, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu and ten other districts of the state, to Mysore to create a chaotic situation under the guise of holding protests, demanding the release of the district head of Karnataka Forum for Dignity. There is no doubt that a systematic plan is on to disturb communal harmony in the state and spoil the reputation of the government," he said.
Speaking at the time of moving of an adjournment motion on these disturbances by opposition leader in the council V S Ugrappa, the Chief Minister said the said letter will contain full facts about the conspiracy. "What was the purpose of organizing a large-scale protest by bringing people from various districts at a time when prohibitory orders were in place at Mysore? What is the aim of those who have been abetting such incidents? We know everything and such plans which might endanger the integrity of the country need to be firmly rebutted," he commented. He also objected to the indications of the opposition leader that the administration has been providing indirect support to those indulging in such disturbances and that the incidents lay bare the inefficiency of the intelligence.
The fact that the government was tried to be projected as the perpetrator of disturbances in the permission letter for moving of the adjournment motion by Ugrappa angered the treasury benches, as a result of which the council witnessed angry exchange of words and acrimonious scenes. While Ugrappa hit back by saying that he does not want any advice of the ruling party for moving the motion, leader of the house Dr V S Acharya stuck to his demand for the withdrawal of notice, saying that it’s wordings were against the parliamentary traditions. Chairman of the council Veeranna Mattikatti succeeded in drawing curtains on the discussions, by ruling that he would permit dissuasion on the issue under rule 68 on Monday.
Detailed discussions will be put on hold for the time being, as the situation in Mysore continues to be delicate.
