North Indian youths incapable of getting jobs: Santosh Gangwar

Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 15 (IANS): Union Minister Santosh Gangwar stirred major controversy on Sunday when he blamed the North Indian youth for failing to secure jobs as he dismissed criticism about the current employment situation in the country.

The Minister present at an event here said that there was no shortage of jobs but the companies wishing to recruit say that the youths here were ineligible.

The Minister of Independent charge for Ministry of Labour and Employment said that there was a lot of employment available. Apart from the employment offices, his Ministry has also been monitoring the situation.

He said that the matter of recession was being misunderstood in the country.

Targeting former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, Gangwar said the former is scared but none will be spared.

Referring to Khan, he said he will explain to the people of Rampur the kind of person the constituency has chosen and sent to Parliament. It is a matter of misfortune for them too, he added..

The Samajwadi Party president hit back at Santosh Gangwar saying the minister was adding insult to injury and his statement on unemployment was "insensitive and cruel" towards the youth.

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari also sought an apology from the Modi government for the minister's statement.

"On one hand, people are losing jobs and on the other, new jobs are not being created. Instead of addressing the issues, the minister blames the youth of being incapable of getting jobs," he said.

It’s very harsh truth…. You might have experienced in your organization too…. Since I am handling three Departments in Project Level, I still prefer South Indians to handle Accounts/Admin/Personnel Dept….. but only problem is language of Hindi…. when it comes to deal with construction workers mostly arrives from north India or Bangladesh or Pakistan…
And lastly…. When it comes to hard working…. No one can replace South Indians… You may agree it or not…. but I mean it (this is my personal experience of 23 years in corporate sector)

This is not the first time that a union minister has made bizarre comments to justify their poor governance on managing the country’s economy. Earlier Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman blamed the Uber and Ola taxi services to justify the slowdown in the automobile sector. Days later, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal had faced social media roasting for crediting Albert Einstein with the discovery of gravity while justifying the economic slowdown.

The PM Modi's central government hit has been ruling for more than five years. There is no job creation. Whatever jobs were there, they have been snatched due to the economic slowdown brought by the government due to 'Demonetisation'. Now Union minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar of insulting North Indians by saying there’s paucity of ‘quality people’ in this part of the country for jobs escape by insulting North Indians.

In 2018, 18.6 million Indians were jobless. 50 lakh Indians who lost their jobs between 2016 and 2018, with young urban men hit the hardest, according to a report by the Azim Premji University. 4.24 lakh Downward revision of jobs between September 2017 and January 2019, as per the EPFO data. Job scenario turned bleak in the past year, as almost 1 crore Indians lost their jobs during 2018, a report by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE). Over 3.5 Lakh Jobs Lost Since April as Indian Auto Industry. Amid auto slump, components sector sees 8-10 lakh job cuts.

India's unemployment rate rose to a 45-year high during 2017-2018. While PM Modi wants qualified youth to take 'Pakora' jobs pushing carts, his Union minister now insults North India escaping saying lack of skills.

Very very irresponsible statement by a minister elected by the people. It's not youths problem, it's your responsibility to provide quality and job worthy education system. Also hiring them and training them as your rowdies. BTW, no one has seen any job vacancy ad with specific requirements. If a candidate has basic knowledge about the job requirement then it's employers responsibility to train and mould that candidate according to its specific needs provided there are job opportunities.
This is Loser Talk. Passing the buck to hide inability.
