It is a good move. I think the Government should first think of people who leave in India but outside thier home town to cast their vote.

Dear Bilal, first read the article carefully before you jump the gun. You have to be present in India in your respective constituency to cast the vote. It may be virtually impossibel to arrange voting at any of the embassies/conulates, it''s not presidential election where you have two or three candidates/parties like the US.

If this is enacted and NRIs are allowed to cast their ballots, its going to bring in revolutionary changes in the election results. Many a communual parties may oppose this move. NRIs must get the right to frenchise and right to elect the representative. Please expedite.

No Doubt if this Bill is tabled and Passed in parliment, it would be another Golden feather Indian Democracy. However the External affairs ministry should make it mandatory for the Indian embassy''s overseas to register all Indian workers. At present many of the Indian mission dont care about the well being of their citizens. They only involve with routine embassy work with collection of money.

Indian embassy even collect the fee for community welfare in Saudi Arabia. God knows what welfare schemes they have taken up. It is high time we NRI''s get together and pressure the External affairs ministry treat us fairly.

It is really good thing for India, Indian Democracy is biggest in the world, and if voting rights are given to NRI, it is really a FAIR elections and good government we can say. I think we as NRI must take action or signature campaign to Indian Government and respected MPs/MLAs to follow up our right. Even in UAE many European,USA and country like Phlilipines nationals are excercising their voting rights infront of us. This is a right time to act Congress Govt.
