Daya Nayak promoted and posted to ATS Mumbai unit

Mumbai, Sep 25: Daya Nayak from Yennehole in Karkala  taluk of Karnataka, who is widely known all over the country as an encounter specialist and also for having successfully decimating the underworld gangs in Mumbai, has been promoted and posted to Mumbai unit of Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) Maharashtra. Daya Nayak was till now working at Khar, Mumbai. 

With this, Daya Nayak has emerged as the only senior Tulu-Kannada-Konkani speaking police officer to have been posted to ATS Mumbai unit.

 

Daya Nayak had joined the police force in the 90s when the underworld was playing havoc in Mumbai. He succeeded in bringing the situation under control by fearlessly taking on the underworld and establishing law and order. He came to be known as encounter specialist after eliminating over 80 underworld elements. He also succeeded in crushing the drugs cartel in Mumbai and in cracking some of the most complicated cases. 

Daya Nayak won the Karnataka Rajyostava award in 2004. He had built a school at his native place, Yennehole, and handed over the building to the government. Some Hindi movies based on his achievements and daredevilry were also made. 

Daya Nayak expressed happiness at the fact that his honesty, sincerity, hard work, duty consciousness, and friendliness have helped him achieve this distinction. He said he will continue to fight against crime and criminals in Mumbai.
