Bengaluru, Sep 28: Karnataka chief minister, B S Yediyurappa, has issued an order, giving additional responsibilities to his cabinet colleagues. He has distributed additional portfolios which he had retained with him for future allocation upon cabinet expansion, as the Supreme Court is yet to pass order relating to the disqualified MLAs.

Some of of the 17 ministers have got these additional departments. It is also believed that this measure could have been taken to get rid of the pressure mounted on him by the party MLAs to make them ministers at least till the disqualified legislators get favourable verdict.

Deputy chief minister, Ashwath Narayan, has been given additional charge of medical education department, while Laxman Savadi has got agriculture. K S Eshwarappa has got youth services and sports, while R Ashok has been given Bengaluru city development and municipal administration departments. Jagadish Shettar has been given additional charge of public enterprises while B Sriramulu has got department of backward classes. Suresh Kumar has been given labour department additionally, with V Somanna getting horticulture and silk, and C T Ravi getting sugar portfolio.

Basavaraj Bommai has got cooperation department, C C Patel has been given forest and environment, L Nagesh has got skill development, Prabhu Chouhan has got department of minorities with Shashikala Jolle getting food and civil supplies department.
