Speaking at a press meet, Ashok said that the sum of Rs 500 crore released now is meant for the reconstruction of assets damaged due to floods, and undertaking road, school works and providing other basic infrastructure.

The district-wise amounts released are as follows: Belagavi (Rs 200 crore), Bagalkot (Rs 45 crore), Chikkamagaluru (Rs 30 crore), Uttara Kannada (Rs 25 crore), Dharwad (Rs 40 crore), Gadag (Rs 10 crore), Haveri (Rs 35 crore), Hassan (Rs 15 crore), Kodagu (Rs 10 crore) and Mysuru (Rs 30 crore).

Ashok stated that the land that has suffered landslides would be converted into government land. "We have identified alternative land for the affected people in Moodigere revenue division. In Kodagu too similar principles will be followed," he explained.

Ashok said that relief of grant towards flood relief from the centre has been delayed on technical grounds. He said he expects central aid to come within a week. "Once we get this amount, we will release crop insurance money," he informed.

Ashok said that the state is yet to attend to the work of opening 'Pouthi accounts' in respect of land inherited by farmers from their forefathers and that the deputy commissioners have been instructed to undertake a campaign to attend to this work on priority basis.

35 crores for DK. very good. But government should also have announced how much goes to MLAs and other government functionaries and finally how much would be actually spent on people for their rehabilitation.
