19-year-old missing Kerala girl flees to Abu Dhabi to be with lover

Abu Dhabi, Sep 30 (IANS): A 19-year-old Delhi-based Christian girl who flew to Abu Dhabi earlier this month and embraced Islam, has rubbished reports that she has been abducted and coerced into joining a terrorist group, adding that she came to the UAE for love.

"This is not true. I have found my true calling and have come to Abu Dhabi of my own free will. No one forced me. I am an adult citizen of India and can make my own decision," Ciyani Benny, now known as Aisha, told Gulf News on Sunday.

A final year under-graduate student at the Jesus and Mary College, Ciyani attended classes until on September 18.

However, the same day, she took a flight to Abu Dhabi to marry an Abu Dhabi-based Indian man she became friends with on social media about nine months ago.

Her parents, originally from Kozhikode, Kerala, filed a missing report alongside a police complaint saying that their daughter has been kidnapped.

But on Saturday, Ciyani issued a statement saying that she embraced Islam in Abu Dhabi Court on September 24 of her own free will.

"I have accepted this religion and would ensure that I would live with the same faith," she added.

In her statement, she urged the Indian government to take action against those spreading the "fake news" that she has been "abducted or is part of a terrorist group".

Ciyani said her parents, including his brother have air-dashed to Abu Dhabi to meet her.

"I have told them I am not going back. I want to get married to live in the UAE," she told Gulf News on Sunday.

I thought the youngsters nowadays are more mature than 20-30 years back. This is insane. Only thing is they should lead a good life, not regret her decision later on.

Whatever or whoever one says ,I say this girl has made a great mistake. Not that she marries or married another religious man, no .It is she simply without completing her studies ,without any basics she ran away to meet her lover. Why so hurry when both love first see you have some education completed, see some job.or without telling parents to run was it needed? Now she asks indian embassy to take action against people who spread news or family members? Not a fine way. This shows it does not come from her but her lover? I am sure she will soon realize her mistake .If she is happily married ok.Let her.when not too it was her decision.need not blame others. In marrying ,one should take decision with lot of thinking.and with some guidness.we cant blame religious leaders. They have no authority to bide one adult person.

A friendship of 9 months V/s living & practicing a religion one is born with.
Yes, unknown person, doesn't know whether he was previously married, doesn't know about his family background every parent go through to find matching proposal for their children.
Here girl thinks she knows everything in her teens, but the world outside is not that rosy & doesn't end they married happily story.
It proves the religion she was born with she hadn't practiced properly & she saw another version of a religion she thinks is better with her immature mind.
According to Islamic rule her father has the right to decide to whom she should be given in marriage, I think it is valid in UAE too. but conflict of interests might come here. Their courts will decide this matter too.
Hope she wouldn't regret later as we have seen many social media marriages have proven disaster.
Bed of Roses she dreams & the same roses have some thorns too, only time will decide the same.

Even after doing thorough verification, knowing family background and other details marriages end up in breakup or divorce, and sometimes end up murdering the partner in spite of proper verification took place prior to marriage. She is an adult and she knows what she has done, and if at all the guy cheats her, then its purely her decision, she has to suffer

    Dear Ciyani,

Yes, you are right that you are a adult Citizen of India and has the right to make your own decision, but did you think of your parents for a moment before you took this decision ?????

Your parents might have sacrificed so many things just to raise you up my dear and finally they had to see this day. I am not opposing your marriage, but the option you opted is completely wrong. You will realize this pain only when you become a mother my dear.

Anyway happy married life and please keep your parents in your prayers.

Yes it is sad incident for parents. Leave her alone, she is an adult

However difficult to digest below information

''Getting friendship in Social Media from other country and getting married with in 9 months ''

What was the hurry ? Both could have waited for some time, consulted with parents. There are many inter-cast marriages are still going on with parents approval.
