Mangaluru, Oct 2: Towards drafting a master plan for its activities during the upcoming year, Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Rachana, organized an advisory meet in city on Tuesday, October 1.
Silent prayer was offered by members present, to the souls of Rachana members who departed in the recent months.
In his welcome address, Elias Sanctis, president, explained the objective of the advisory meet. He recalled about the projects executed by Rachana during the last some years and sought valuable suggestions from the invitees for strengthening the association in the coming years.
Speaking on the occasion, J R Lobo, former MLA, said “in the past years, Rachana did execute very noble projects which were rightly recognized by community and the society. I appreciate the current governing body for organizing this advisory meet. This will provide additional boost for implementation of fresh ideas within a fixed time frame. This advisory meet should be discuss on the subject of ‘what do we need to focus on and what action should be taken’. Rachana should take the initiative to form corporate sectors and societies for community. At the same time it is very essential to inform young entrepreneurs about various government schemes. It also should promote self-help groups because these groups will be more helpful for start-ups and community members who dream of running their own business.”
In his speech, Walter D’Souza, member of IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) and former president of KCMA, observed that nowadays young generation do not want to take risks. “They are happy with their profession and do not want to run their own businesses. The organizations like Rachana should encourage young people of the present generation for entering the field of business. Through seminars and awareness programs along with proper advising cells we can motivate them. If more and more entrepreneurs emerge over the years, it will help the community in various ways.”
Moderating the meet, Roy Castelino, former president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and well-known entrepreneur from the city said, “Rachana has a strong organizational set up which meets every needs to the Catholic entrepreneurs of both Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. We need to ensure its proper implementation and through this we should promote young entrepreneurs from the community. It is our duty to prepare successors for our business world and we have to hand over them to our next generation for their individual and firms growth. The advisory meet is very apt and definitely it will help Rachana for its upcoming projects."
Ivan D’Souza, MLC, Louis Pinto, president, Mandd Sobhann, Anil Lobo, chairman, MCC Bank, and other members of Rachana and invitees actively participated in the discussions which followed and came up with their suggestions.
