Kaup: Two groups clash during Balaganapati immersion ceremony - One injured

Kaup, Oct 10: When an immersion procession of Lord Balaganapati of Padubidri was in progress on October 8, two groups clashed with other on some unknown issue. On this occasion, allegedly, a local, Krishna Salian, was injured in the head as he was hit by a stone. It is said that death threat was posed to him.

The incident happened on national highway 66 opposite Narayanaguru Mandir in Padubidri.

Krishna Salian said in a complaint filed in Padubdiri station that during the period the procession was moving, Hemaraj, Dinesh and Snehit Karkera, all of whom are known to him, used expletives against him after which Snehit Karkera hit his head with a stone, duly inflicting injury.

This Balaganapati idol is installed every year on Ganesha Chaturthi and immersed on Vijayadashami day.

The police are looking into the matter.
