Bengaluru, Oct 11: In a set of multiple raids which took place on Thursday, October10, it is said that IT officials have found incriminatory evidence connected to former deputy chief minister (DCM) G Parameshwara and his associates. A total of Rs 4.25 crore in cash was found in 30 places around Bengaluru and Tumakuru. The raids are still in progress on Friday. These raids are being conducted after Parameshwara was named in a multi-crore tax evasion case linked to medical entrance exams. 

These raids involved over 300 IT officials searching different premises connected to Parameshwara and Congress leader R L Jalappa. The initial raids were conducted after the department received a tip-off that the medical seats are being sold for huge value. The IT officials then conducted a thorough probe which disclosed irregularities in the process. Reportedly, medical seats were being sold at Rs 50 lac to Rs 60 lac. 

On October 11, the department was planning to raid the house of Parameshwara's nephew and the Siddhartha Medical College, which runs by the trust managed by the former DCM. Similarly, the RL Jalappa Institute of Technology in Doddaballapura and Kolar, run by R L Jalappa's son. 

In response to the raids being conducted, Parameshwara claimed that he will rectify any errors or faults caused by him. Meanwhile, RL Jalappa referred the raids as political vendetta. 

G Parameshwara was the DCM in HD Kumaraswamy's JD(S)-Congress coalition government that collapsed in July after losing the trust vote in the assembly.
