Kasargod, Oct 12: In connection with the incident in which a man had killed his wife and then thrown her body duly packing it along with some stones into a rivulet, police personnel of Vidyanagar station here have arrested the husband of the victim.

The arrested person happens to be Shilzo (32) from Kannur Alakkode. He has been arrested relating to the murder of his wife Prameela (30). There is a likelihood of the police registering a case against Shilzo's paramour relating to this murder.

It is said that the root cause for the murder was Prameela's resistance against her husband's illicit relationship with another woman. The police have claimed that Shilzo has confessed to them that he smothered his wife to death by tightening grip around her throat.

In the meanwhile, the police are continuing with the efforts to recover the body of Prameela, which was tossed into Thekkil rivulet. Expert divers and personnel of the fire brigade continued with their efforts to find out the body on Saturday, which happened to be the third day of this operation.

Shilzo and Prameela were living in a rented house in Vidyanagar here. An argument had arisen between Shilzo and Prameela at the end of which Shilzo had reportedly murdered his wife on September 19 night. Shilzo had then wrapped his wife's mortal remains in plastic sheet duly keeping some stones inside to ensure that the body did not float, and tossed the same into the rivulet from Thekkil bridge. On September 20, he filed missing complaint about his wife in Vidyanagar police station.

As Shilzo did not evince interest in the case after filing missing complaint, the police gres suspicious, took him into custody and subjected him to intense interrogation, as a result of which the murder came to light. On the basis of information given by Shilzo, search for the body is continuing. The police say that they can say something concrete only after the body is found.

Why murder??? Was divorce not an option. The wife should have known that once her husband is having illicit affair, he was not to be trusted and she would have never got his full love and loyalty. She could have put a case and demand for financial assistance for her livelihood. He should be put behind bars for life for murder.

There is a saying that, "some persons fight for caste, creed and religion while some fight for prestige, power and position and it is only husband and wife who fight without any reason and for nothing."

Looking at all the problems and hardships the husbands and wives go through, the above saying on them is definitely wrong. There are genuine reasons for arguments and the fight. The fight of the woman on husband's illicit relation is really justified. This man definitely deserves nothing less than death.
