Man smuggling gold worth Rs 28 lac arrested at Kannur airport

Kannur, Oct 12: Custom officials at Kannur International Airport seized gold weighing 899 grams of gold from the possession of a passenger on Saturday, October 12.

The arrested has been identified as Shareef, native of Mavval Pallikere who arrived from Abu Dhabi in GoAir flight. He had concealed about 899 grams of gold in a compound/paste form in his rectum.

The total value of gold seized is around Rs 28 lac. However, alert officers caught him, registered case and arrested him.

Further investigation is in progress.

    The poor are lured by the smugglers and they get trapped. This is what i got to hear. lack of education to the poor labour class people.
    i request the Indian Embassy and Airlines to educate the people.

    It's an big racket. Due to deepavali season is near..and demand for gold is high..inflow of gold from abroad is high. Ten times they safely pass the gold having much of rate and one time surrender to custom officials having less rate. It wont be stopped. Whole system is corrupt. Only when oneself refuse to involve themselves in corruption act...nation will improve.

    Gold smulkgling through PO method can not be successful in Kudla and Kannur airports...Better try some other airports....😀
