Udupi, Oct 12: A woman was reportedly driven out from her house by her husband and his demanding additional dowry.

Hajira Banu (30), resident of Gundyadka, Karkala in her complaint to Udupi women’s police station, stated that she had got married to Ibrahim as per Muslim traditions at Hapsa, Udyavar on May 30, 2019. The girl’s family had given to the boy’s family Rs three lac cash and twenty sovereign gold as dowry as demanded by the groom’s family.

Hajira was staying in the house of her husband at Karamballi, Santhoshnagar after the marriage. The accused also hurled expletives on her, threatened and got her unborn child aborted by force when she was pregnant for her second child, she said. Hajira has been driven out of home now when she is four months pregnant.

A police case under section 42/2019 column 498(A), 313, 504, 506 and IPC 34 column 3, 4 DP Act was registered at Udupi women’s police station on the basis of the complaint lodged by Hajira.

Dowry system in the Arab world is quite the opposite. The boys have to offer dowry to the would be wife and as a consequence lot's of boys delay marriage or more number of girls forced to remain spinster.
In this case all those who have tortured must be punished with legal action against them. For that too girls side need lot's of money to approach the lawyers.

The dowry system is nothing but exploitation of girl's parents and devastation of the girl's life. Muslim Jama'ats , Qazi and social leaders shall boycott such marriages to get rid of this evil practice.
In Hajira's case: ".......in her complaint to Udupi women’s police station, stated that she had got married to Ibrahim as per Muslim traditions at Hapsa, Udyavar on May 30, 2019."
it means the marriage took place just 4 month ago. Then how come she is 4 months pregnant for 3rd time as she said: ".......threatened and got her unborn child aborted by force when she was pregnant for her second child, she said. Hajira has been driven out of home now when she is four months pregnant."
    Little bit confusing.
Anyways justice shall be done to her according to the law.
