Udupi, Oct 14: A delegation led by Udupi MLA K Raghupati Bhat and chief whip of legislative assembly and Karkala MLA, Sunil Kumar, have undertaken a tour of the state of Gujarat and discussed the sand related issues with the officials in that state.
The delegation discussed about sand mining in non-CRZ area with commissioner, Gujarat mining department, Arun Kumar Solanki and other officers. It was decided in the meeting that there are plenty of opportunities to extract sand from non-CRZ area in Gujarat. A detailed study will be done and report will be submitted to the government of Karnataka.
The delegation included senior officers of Karnataka Shivshankar Reddy, Ramji Nayak and others. This delegation went to Gujarat with the purpose of adopting the sand policy that is followed there to put an end to the shortage of sand in the district and also in other parts of the state.
