Mangaluru, Oct 25: Prof Raghuram (63), who had retired after serving Mangalore University in the capacity of professor of commerce and head of the commerce department, collapsed inside the commerce department of the university on October 24 and passed away. 

Prof Raghuram had visited the commerce department along with his colleagues and students. He collapsed in sitting position. Although he was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, he had breathed his last on the way. 

He was unmarried. He was born in a poor family from Vorkady and had pursued education in Kodlamogaru Daigoly Vani Vijaya High School, St Philomena College Puttur and got his M Com degree through the postgraduate centre of Mysore University which was then functioning from the P G Centre at Mangala Gangotri in 1977. He later annexed Ph D degree. He had joined teaching profession in 1981. 

Prof Raghuram had served as member of the university syndicate, dean, and senate member. He had retired about a year back, and even thereafter continued to be in touch with his students and had been providing guidance to them. Under his guidance, 16 persons had secured Ph D degrees.
