Mandya, Oct 29: The police arrested 16 persons who were found to be holding a parade in a sugarcane field under suspicious circumstances on Sunday October 28. Out of them, nine are from K R Pet, five from Alambady Kaval and two from Hunsur.
The parade was led by Mubarak Pasha from Hunsur. The police said that the arrested persons, who happen to be members of Popular Front of India, had met and held parade under suspicious circumstances. The police are trying to know the purpose of the parade, why it was held inside the sugarcane field instead of public places, and what kind of training was being given etc.
However, the police who scrutinized the spot did not find any kind of arms or items used for destructive purposes or pamphlets.
Bandh on Thursday
Confusion prevailed on the premises of the court complex at K.R. Pet town of the district on Monday after some local advocates, members of RSS, other Hindu associations, Kannada activists, and some residents raised objections to advocates appearing for the PFI activists. The charges against the arrested are not trivial. No one should support such people, they said.
A team of advocates from Bengaluru had arrived at K.R. Pet town to move the bail applications for the arrested.
The advocates had to enter the court with police protection. The court later granted conditional bail to all the accused.
“We will observe a bandh on Thursday,” the Bajrang Dal told presspersons here on Monday evening.
