Abu Dhabi, Oct 31: A SUV driver using mobile phone closely escaped death, after he deviated from his lane and crashed his vehicle into a road signage in Abu Dhabi.
The video tweeted by Abu Dhabi Police on Thursday, shows the horrific accident.
The video shows the driver of a white colour SUV slowly deviating from the right-most lane near an exit and heading into an off-limit yellow area before crashing into a road signage.
The speed of the vehicle was such that the driver lost control and drove into the unpaved area between the highway and the exit, before jumping back onto the highway's right lane, going right across to the fast lane, and crashing at the other end.
There were high chances that other vehicles would have collided into the SUV in the fast lane. This would have led to series of accidents. Thankfully, the SUV did not collide with any other vehicle.
The Abu Dhabi police tweeted that the driver's distraction due to the use of mobile phone was the cause.
