UK: Mangaloreans' Day-out in Nottingham - Pictures

Nottingham, Aug 11: After the successful event of charismatic retreat on 4th of July MUKA-Nottingham, organised it’s annual summer day-out on 8th August at Rufford country park, Newark.

The journey to the picnic spot began in a double Decker bus driven by a lady (Miss Kelly) at 9.45 with members singing hymns and songs. After a short drive to the Newark it seemed that the unusual sunshine and cool weather was waiting to welcome the members for such an event.

The President Sunil D’cunha welcomed everyone and briefed about the day long programme. The members were glad to welcome two new families into MUKA’s fold as they cheered them with their best wishes. Flossy Fernandes conducted prayer. 

After the group photo session delicious breakfast with hot Samosas was served, which was jointly sponsored by the families of Conrad Aranha and Pius Rasquina. Apart from erecting a gazebo at the spot, the family of Walter Rodrigues sponsored orange shoot.





































 

Cultural secretary Stany Sequiera along with Sunil D’cunha conducted various sports activities for different age groups which was well co-ordinated by Secretary Dorothy Prakash. For children various games were organized including “name the person”, “frog leap race”, “cloth pin picking”, “lawn darts” and “hurling dart”.

“Lemon and spoon race” was held for women which was won by Mrs. Anitha Menezes.

Sac race was conducted for men with Dennis D’souza bagging the prize in the finals.

Interestingly, group had organised popular Indian game “Lagori” which was played in 4 different groups and brought back the childhood memories of Mangalore. 

The delicious chicken biriyani with raita was served as lunch which was prepared by Wilfred Rodrigues and Joy Pinto respectively. Various other things were either sponsored or prepared by the families of Wilfred Rodrigues, Joy pinto, Navin Lobo, Harry D’souza, Dorothy Prakash, John Fernandes, Stany Sequiera, Julian Noronha, and Walter Rodrigues

The vice-president Shalini Pinto thanked all the sponsors and all those people who helped in various ways to make this day eventful in which more than 75 people participated.
