Udupi, Nov 1: Home minister and district in-charge minister Basavaraj Bommai spoke to the media in Udupi on Friday, November 1 on the issue of celebrating Tipu Jayanti and said, “The State government is planning to remove lessons on Tipu Sultan from the history text books because the students should not learn controversial issues. We will examine the same in the coming days. Controversy on Tipu’s history has been there since a long time, but today it is more prevalent. This issue is not yet discussed by the cabinet,”
Regarding the increase in cyber crime, minister Bommai said, “After the implementation of Digitization in India, the number of cyber crime cases are increasing day by day. Moreover, Karnataka is advanced in information and technology. Hence, we have set up CEN police station in each district. We have decided to set up eight additional CEN police stations in Bengaluru and few additional stations in all commissionerates in the state. We also have modern cyber crime detection lab.”
Responding to increasing ganja peddlers in the city, Bommai said, “We have zero tolerance towards drug selling and consumption. A special squad has been formed to deal with the problem. I have asked ground report on ganja and drug peddlers. We will act based on the same.”
Answering the query on filling the posts of public prosecutors, the minister said, “More than 100 appointments were made directly by the government. As there is urgent need, we will fill 300 posts by outsourcing.”
Regarding hosting of Kannada flag Basavaraj Bommai said, ”I have given instructions to DC that by next Rajyostava, Kannada flag should be hoisted with national flag here in Udupi. Kannada flag was hoisted in all other districts today. No order is given by the government not to hoist the Kannada flag.”
Replying to the query of safeguarding of fishermen while fishing in between border areas, the minister said, “The border issue between states is natural. We will inform Coast Guard to provide security in this regard. We will also take certain measures in this regard. We will think of settling the dispute through the use of technology.”
