Mangalore: Freak Fire Accident at Boat Manufacturing Unit

Mangalore, Aug 11: A boat manufacturing unit near Mukhyaprana Temple, Bolar here on Tuesday August 11 was partially engulfed in fire resulting in damages to assets worth Rs 50,000.

























In a freak fire accident the roof and shed enclosure constructed using bamboo and coconut fronds were reduced to ashes. However, boats under construction have not been damaged as they are made up of metal. Moreover, further damages were averted through successful operation by the fire personnel, who doused the fire on time before it could spread to the nearest shed.

The reason for break out of fire is yet to be known. However, workers suspect of a short circuit as power was used for boat manufacturing works at the workshop. The unit belongs to Vasanth Pai, a resident of Carstreet and case has been registered in this regard.
