Mumbai, Nov 8 (IANS): Former Maharashtra Director General of Police (DGP) and one of the finest IPS officers, Arvind S. Inamdar passed away at a private hospital on Friday morning, official sources said.
Known for investigating the sensational Jalgaon sex scandal and human trafficking case, which erupted in July 1994, along with his team comprising IPS officers Deepak Jog and Meeran Borwankar, Inamdar served as the DGP from October 1997 - January 2000.
Inamdar was instrumental in training and guiding the 'encounter specialist' cops who helped rid Mumbai of the mafia strongholds.
The last rites shall be performed at the Chandanwadi Crematorium in Marine Lines at 11 a.m. on Friday.
