London, Aug 16: Actress Cybill Shepherd, known for her roles in "The Last Picture Show" and "Moonlighting", reveals that she walked out on late rock icon Elvis Presley when she realised his drug problems were spiralling out of control.
The music star offered Shepherd prescription pills one night when they were getting ready for bed, imdb.com reports. Recalling the incident, the actress said: "He said, 'Here, take these,' and he had pills in his hands and I said, 'Aren't you gonna take some of them?' and he said, 'Well, I've already had mine.'
"He was almost already asleep and I went and flushed them down the toilet, returned his emerald and diamond ring and just said, 'Thank you, but I can't'."
Elvis refused to believe Shepherd had ended their romance. He made an unexpected late night visit to her place and demanded she dump filmmaker Peter Bogdanovich if she wanted to stay with him.
"I don't think it had sunk in that I had already ended it," she said.
