Dubai: Delma Tigers Cricket Team Lifts First 'Independence Cup'

Dubai Aug 16: Delma Tigers took home the ‘Independence Cup-2009’ in a closely contested match against J & B XI on Friday August14.
The tournament was a first time effort of undertaken by Rohan Carlo along with Limitless Events International and saw the participation of six teams.
Chasing 112 for victory, J& B were all out for 107 on the last ball of the innings. Prakash D’Souza was the top scorer for the Tigers contributing 34 runs to the team’s score of 111 in 15 overs. He shared an opening partnership of 67 runs with Neville who scored 33.
The ‘Man of the Match’ award went to Don Lobo of the winning team for his impressive spell of 9 for 3 in 2 overs while the ‘Man of the Series’ award was bagged by Kamalaksha of Challengers XI for his all round performance.
Prakash of Delma Tigers was also the top scorer of the tournament and Santosh M of J & B XI was the top wicket-taker.
Speaking to Daijiworld, the organizers said that the response to the tournament was encouraging and they planned to make the event an annual one.
