Sharjah, Nov 11: On Sunday, two Sharjah companies providing parasailing services were suspended. The suspension came in after six men were injured in a parasailing incident.
As per a Sharjah news report, the suspension order on the two companies will remain until the investigation on the matter is ongoing. The order was issued by Sharjah's Department of Civil Aviation and the Department of Economic Development.
Six Asians were injured after the ropes connecting to the parachutes snapped due to the heavy rains and high-speed winds in Sharjah's Khor Fakkan on Saturday.
According to the Sharjah News post, both the civic bodies stated that adrenaline activities during such weather were not permissible and that safety of people will always remain the top priority.
A video taken by a motorist who was passing by showed two men dangling in the air, struggling amid strong winds. The rope then snapped, sending them flying. Another video showed one of the men at the farm, with a part of the parachute hanging from a date palm. Both videos had gone viral on social media.
