Mangalore, Aug 17: The district committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protested the UPA-led central government’s failure in controlling the rise in prices of essential commodities on Monday August 17. The protest was held in front of the deputy commissioner’s office.
Addressing the protest, Monappa Bhandary, district president of the party, said, “The UPA has failed in ruling and has also failed to help the common man. It has no sympathy for the poor and working class of the country. The Congress-led government does not know to rule India or to lead as pro-people”.
“It is a protest organized nation-wide and is symbolic”, he said. Bhandary added that the BJP will hold a strong agitation if the central government fails to contain the price rise.
BJP leaders including mayor Shankar Bhat, deputy mayor Rajani Dugganna, and office-bearers Sreekar Prabhu, and Vishweswara Bhat were also present.
