The day is not far off when nature's fury will bring to Mangluru a situation (landslides) as happened in Madikeri, Coorg, Kodagu, Pune, Kerala etc. where hills were rampantly cut and structures built! Only it requires is a cloud burst with non stop rains for a day!!

The Mangalore Municipality should not permit construction
of buildings on hills in Mangalore even if a retaining wall is
foreseen, as the forces of nature are far greater and unpredictable
than human understanding and greed and modern engineering.

The same catastrophies happened on the hills of Manipal in Udupi
in the vicinity of Central Cinemas because the Municipality did
not bother to understand the physics of topography on this ancient
hill of Manipal that was once a large forest leading into Karkala and
    Shimoga.

Sadly, the authorities are only interested in the free revenue Builders
give the government by excessive and unnecessary buildings,
