Udupi: District Police organize Exhibition-cum-Returning Programme of Stolen Assets

Udupi, Aug 18: The office of the superintendent of police of the district organized an exhibition of stolen goods recovered by the department, in respect of the theft cases reported to it, for the period from Januay 1, 2009 to June 30 this year, at the premises of the district armed reserve police force here on Tuesday August 18. On this occasion, identified assets were also returned to their true owners.
In two cases relating to Byndoor police station falling within Kundapur subdivision, the department has recovered 11.537 kgs of gold, cash of Rs 32,000 and a Tavera vehicle bearing registration no. KA 47-1671m valued at about six lac rupees, relating to two cases. In cases relating to Kundapur police station, a motor cycle, eight gas cylinders, a golden Karimani, 130 plastic chairs, totally valued at Rs 69,000 were recovered. In a case pertaining to Shankaranarayana police station in this subdivision, a tanker valued at about five lac rupees was recovered.
In the case of Karkala subdivision, gold ornaments worth Rs 45,000 were recovered in a case pertaining to Karkala town police station. A golden Karimani valued at Rs 35,000 was recovered in connection with a theft report lodged in Hebri police station. In the case of Kaup station, the police personnel succeeded in recovering gold ornaments worth Rs 1,51,000.
Relating to four cases of Manipal police station that falls within Udupi subdivision, a Bajaj Pulsar bike, a Honda Activa motor cycle, telephone cables and cash, totally valued at Rs 71,000 have been recovered. In one case registered in Hiriyadka police station, the department has recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 3, 25,000. In the case of two cases lodged in Kota police station, a truck valued at four lac rupees and gold ornaments worth Rs 10, 85,000 have been recovered. In seven cases pertaining to Udupi town police station, a Tata Indica car, a Tavera car, an Alto car, a Bajaj Pulsar bike, a mobile phone, computer and gold ornaments worth Rs 1,20,000, total of which is Rs 12,87,686, were recovered by the policemen during this period, a release by the district police office stated.
