Mangalore: Corporation Continues with Demolition Drive of Unauthorized Shops

Mangalore, Aug 19: Continuing with it drive against unauthorized structures and encroachments in the city, the labourers hired by the City Corporation demolished and dismantled about eight to ten kiosks, petty shops and temporary structures erected by street vendors in the vicinity of Urwa Stores market in the morning of Wednesday August 19.



The labourers were halped in the operation, by a backhoe hired for the purpose. Corporation officials supervised the operation. As the shop owners seemed to have advance information of the drive, the dirve did not face any resistance.

    GREAT JOB BY MCC HOWEVER CAN MCC PLEASE CLARIFY THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE OLD MOHINI VILAS INTO A NEW STRUCTURE. 1. WHO IS THE CURRENT OWNER OF THIS STRUCTURE BEING CONSTRUCTED NOW? 2.     It is a good move by MCC,but why they can not bring a strict issue against street vending.By doing this,We can find our city neat and clean,and the poor street vendors can avoid investing their little earnings on MCC''s garbage bin.

    It is really good news. I hope threre is no politics in this. The urwastore bus stand surrounding also has got two shops which are unauthorised. They also should be removed. One shop sells boti and other stuff. Not hygeinic. Please remove these also. These shops were a nuisance in that urwastore grounds. There was a shop very next to the toilet there.

    I used to feel like vomiting seeing that shop because you just cannot sell open food just near the toilet. I do not know whether this drive is a temporary one. Anyway good job MCC. clear up the one shop very near the urwastore bus stand besides the cooling water house.

    This was an opportunity given by the corporation only by not inspecting the sites regularly and now the poor people who have to earn their living through this buisness are been denied. corporation officials by the way some concrete buildings are on the main road what programme for them, one example the one exactly opposite KSRTC stand bejai,

    Demolition is fine, but when is the corporation and its Commissioner will wake up to the reality of the influential and politically supported people throwing away all norms of building construction in thin air and committing such gross irregularity in FSI and encroaching the govt lands within the city of Mangalore specilally in and around Hampankatta and Jyothi talkies area, Are they going to take any action on tha
