Udupi, Nov 14: Youth Nite organized by ICYM unit of Mother of Sorrows Church was held on Wednesday November 13. Youth Nite marked live performance by MNB band along with dance, skits and entertaining performances by ICYM and YCS youths.
Fr Ronson D'Souza, ICYM animator, Udupi deanery, inaugurated the programme. On the occasion, he said "This year we are celebrating Year of Youth in Udupi diocese. During the annual feast of every church, Tulu dramas are being played by drama companies as entertainment. But this time youths of Udupi parish have thought differently and they are showcasing their talents before you today. Pope Francis calls to do maximum use of the year of youth. He tells never to live your life behind curtains. Take risks. Dedicate yourself to better life. Today youths of Udupi are going to take positive risks. They are ready to share their God-given talents with others.”
Fr Valerian Mendonca, parish priest, said, "Today we can see that our youths are dedicating their lives for others. Youths are present and future of the Church. To strengthen the church, values of Jesus should be reflected in our youths. In this year our ICYM and YCS units are heading towards a new vision. They have made great efforts to bring up this event. We have faith on them. I can say that they are nearly professional. Singing and dance have universal language in them without the barriers of religion or region. We can make happy the unhappy people through singing and dance."
Youth Nite marked the live performance by MNB band. The band consisting of 8 members gave a rocking performance and won everyone's heart. Lead guitarist/vocalist Renil Saldanha, rhythm guitarist Shon Mendonca, Marvel D'Souza and Warren D'Souza atkKeyboard along with bassist Daniel D'Souza. Joel Saldana as drummer and Joel Pinto and Ancilla Saldanha as vocalists gave a memorable performance.
ICYM and YCS members entertained the audience with their comedy skits, street play and dance.
Fr Steevan Fernandes, assistant parish priest Gratian Buthello, secretary of parish pastoral committee Alphonse D'Costa, convener of 18 commissions Leslie Cornelio, ICYM animator Joel Sequeira Sr Mayola, YCS animators Bennet Lobo, president ICYM Elroy, president YCS and others were present on the occasion.
Jesvita, Ancialla, Joshitha and Elroy compeered the programme.
