Mangaluru: Workshop on ‘Mobile Communication & Maintenance’ held at St Agnes College

Mangaluru, Nov 16: In order to provide a comprehensive theoretical knowledge and hands on experience of mobile communication and maintenance, Department of Physics, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangalore organized a two-day workshop on ‘Mobile Communication and Maintenance’ on November 13 and 14 under Star College Status, DBT New Delhi.

The workshop was inaugurated on November 13 at 9.15 am in the Audio-Visual Room, Veronica Block, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. Sr M Carmel Rita, administrator, St Agnes College (Autonomous) Mangaluru, was the chief guest. In her inaugural address, she said ‘Mobile communications, which were regarded as a luxury few years ago, are now vitally important to individuals, to communities, to businesses, and to the wider economy. High levels of communication have been made possible by one of the most significant and popular devices for communication that is Mobile phones’. She also encouraged the participants to make use of the workshop to the fullest extent and expressed her appreciation of the efforts made by the Physics department of the College towards gaining knowledge in ‘Mobile Communication & Maintenance’. Prof Mariola C Pinto, chairperson and convener of the workshop explained the purpose and the background of the workshop.



Sessions on ‘Introduction to electricity and electronic components, basic information of how a mobile phone works, mobile communication, mobile phone theory, basic mobile hardware, using and handling proper tools for trouble shooting, basic mobile phone repair techniques’ were taken up by the resource person. Rajesh Kumar, BDPS Software Limited, Mangaluru. Participants deeply appreciated these sessions and they found it extremely informative.

The workshop came to an end with a valedictory programme on 14 November, 2019 at 3.45 pm. Sr Dr M Jeswina, principal, St Agnes College (Autonomous) Mangaluru, presided over the valedictory session. In her presidential address she said that the mobile technology offers a range of benefits but also comes with considerable risks and it is essential to consider both advantages and disadvantages of using mobile technology in our daily life. She also emphasized on the importance of mobile phones in the modern era. The participants shared their unique experience and gave their feedback. Certificates of participation were distributed to mark the closing of the ceremony. The participants appreciated the workshop and found it beneficial.
