Cabinet Reshuffle Likely in Karnataka

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Aug 20: The Chief Minister (CM) is likely to conduct a minor surgery on his cabinet shortly. It is learnt, the Chief Minister is waiting for the by-election results to be announced, before he could effect the changes.

Sources reveal, that the Reddy Brothers have been demanding the large industries department, which is currently held by Murugesh Nirani. They also have been pushing for allotting districts to the ministers considered close to them, like Balachandra Jarkiholi, Shivanagouda Nayak and Anand Asnotikar. The fact that the CM is under pressure to accommodate assembly speaker Jagadish Shettar in the cabinet, is not a secret.

Shivanagouda Nayak, Anand Asnotikar, Balachandra Jarkiholi and V Somanna have not been allotted charge of any districts, after they joined the BJP through 'Operation Kamala'.  Ministers Krishna Palemar (DK, Kodagu), Aravind Limbavali (Hassan, Bagalkot) and C M Udasi (Haveri, Raichur) hold charge of two districts each. Among them, Limbavali is said to have expressed the opinion that discharging duties of two districts becomes burdensome for him. Hence, Hassan, in all likelihood, will be allotted to some other minister.

There is information that it has been decided to make housing and muzrai minister V Somanna, the in-charge minister for Chamarajanagar district. Halappa, who is currently the in-charge minister of Chamarajanagar, may be given charge of some other district, sources speculate.
