Mangalore, Aug 22: The Shakthinagar branch of Corporation Bank was inaugurated today, Saturday August 22 by businessman and President of Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation P Dayananda Pai. The branch located in the premises of World Konkani Centre, opposite Sri Gopalakrishna temple, will be the 17th branch of the bank in the Shakthinagar area which will provide a new impetus for the developmental activities of the area.
K C Nayak, industrialist and Managing Trustee of Gopalakrishna Temple was the guest of honour who inaugurated the locker section of the bank.
In his presidential address Dayananda Pai said the new branch would provide an opportunity for locals to do more and more banking transactions in their own locality. He said “though people were cursing the government for nationalizing the bank those days in today’s world recession-ridden economy our banking system has come in for praise the world over. Our once ridiculed conservative system of banking has proved to be the backbone of our economic system”.
Success he said “is in our own hands. If people work diligently with single minded devotion and dedication success is always guaranteed. People should strive to make life interesting and not miserable. The world is like a mirror and if you give smile you will get a back smile and vice versa”. He also called upon the people to concentrate on one aspect at a time and not get confused with too many facets at a time.
K C Nayak who was the guest of honour said Shakthinagar has emerged as the centre of all developmental activities of the Corporation and within the next two years the area will emerge as a major branch of Corporation Bank. “The bank should provide maximum benefits for the poorer sections of the society so that they get all possible help to improve their quality life”, he opined.
General Manager of Corporation Bank B R Bhat pointed out that Corporation Bank has always prided in associating itself with development of the place and the opening of the Shakthinagar branch of the bank is in keeping in tune with this tradition of the bank.
