Abu Dhabi, Nov 21 (IANS): A 10,000 Dirham might not be a large amount for many well-off people in the UAE. However, it is a huge amount for a labourer who earns merely 800 Dirham per month. For him, a 10k Dirham is more than a year's income. Every day, one lucky cricket fan attending the Aldar Properties Abu Dhabi T10 walks away with 10K Dirham in cash once his ticket is picked up through the raffle draw.
For many of these low-income labourers, this added cash changes their lives. So far, six winners of the daily raffle draw walked away with the amount each in the draws conducted during the first six days at the T10 league.
Most of them couldn't believe it, and took time to digest the news. "Insha Allah I will use this money to fulfil the needs of my family and I will donate some of the money to the people those who are in need of it," said Mohammed Nadeem Khan from Islamabad, winner of the raffle draw on Tuesday.
"The whole idea to spend the amount over ten days in raffle draws is to give something back to the people, who come and cheer for their team. For a labourer, it is tough to get out of the daily 10-12 hour grind and come to stadium to watch cricket matches," Shaji Ul Mulk, Founder and Chairman of Aldar Properties Abu Dhabi T10, said.
