Mangalore, Aug 27:  The hearing of Justice B K Somashekahra Commission of Inquiry, which has been investigating the church attack incidents in the state, continued its hearing on Wednesday August 26 too. Commission legal advisor Raviprakash presided over the proceedings.

Raviprakash, who scrutinized the complaints made by the petitioners, also took the affidavits on record. Speaking later, he said that the examination of main witnesses and cross examination process will be held in the next two sittings, on a representative basis.

A resident of Vittal, Mable Veigas, complained to the Commission, that she had filed complaints with the local police station, the then Chief Minister, superintendent of police, local MLA and the Commission, about the assault on the members of her family by a gang of people, relating to the dispute over land owned by her family in Vittal. In retaliation thereof, the family has been facing a social boycott from the people living in the region, because of the fact that she belongs to a different community, he claimed.  Veigas also submitted to the Commission, copies of press reports that appeared in some newspapers, relating to the incident.

Claiming that it is becoming increasingly difficult for her family to live in the village, she pleaded for justice. The affidavits filed by Prasanna Noel D'Souza, Joseph D'Sa, Navin D'Souza, Philomena D'Souza, Katyayini, Bhagwan Das, Mohit N and others were also scrutinized by the Commission.

Advocate Ibrahim appearing on behalf of the Christian witnesses, public prosecutor Prasanna Deshpande, Commission's lawyer Timmavagol and Bajrang Dal lawyer Jagadish Shenava took part in the proceedings.
