Daijiworld Media Network - Karkala (SP)

Karkala, Aug 28: After finding that a pregnant cow had been brutally killed inside the compound of their college, students of Kebttu Sri Manjunath Pai Memorial first grade college in the town, staged protests in front of the taluk office and police station here on Thursday August 27, urging for the arrest of the culprits involved, immediately.

The cow was found lying in a pool of blood inside the compound of the students. The students boycotted their classes, went in a procession, holding placards in hand and submitted memorandums to the concerned officials.

The college watchman, who is an eye-witness to the incident, said that about ten to twelve people, who had arrived at around 3 am on Thursday in the region, chased the cow and tried to nab it but it ran helter-skelter and escaped from their hold. They then surrounded it and forced it to enter the college compound. After they hit the head and rear of the cow with clubs, the cow collapsed to the ground. When the watchman approached the offenders, he was chased away by swishing the swords, the watchman explained. He said, he came back after the miscreants left, and saw that the cow had died by then.

A case has been registered in the local police station. Of late, there have been complaints of cow thefts from various places located around Kabettu area.

It is really tragic & unpardonable act by some stony hearted people but for people like you it has become a fashion to blame the "so called" minorities. What do you think, the majority community members don''t eat beef. Pl do not have double standards. I have seen in Mangalore Pork & beef is a delicacy for many of majority community members. It is their choice, people like you have no right to ridicule them for their eating habits.

I read this heartbreaking news in the morning. There are Human Rights/Minorities Commissions to protect the rights of the so called Minorities in this Country. What about the rights of the animals. Whether the mother cow does not have the right to live with dignity. These people even steal the cows from the sheds and kill for the meat. Why the various Commissions and the Governments are not protecting the rights of the animals and their owners. Issues like scarf/burqua are taken up immediately because of the sensation created by the concerned people.

Killing of cows is also voilation of the Human Rights of the Hindus because it is worshipped by them and killing hearts their sentiments. Cow is equal to Mother as every child on this Earth drinks the Cows'' milk, even as an alternative to the breast milk. Killing of cows is equal to the killing of Mothers. Does such people and their supporters deserve any Commissions for protection of their Rights.
