Bantwal, Aug 30:
A quarrel between two teams turned violent injuring three persons in the city on Sunday August 30 and this led the police to clamp Section 144 in the area as a precautionary measure.

Two groups from the ‘Dasara Kreedakoota’, organized by the public education department and the youth sports department at Modankaup, were involved in the incident.

It is said that some members of one team stabbed a member of the other team at Kaikamba and in retaliation a member of the first group was stabbed near B C Road. Yet another person was later injured.

All three injured have been admitted in separate hospitals at B C Road.

Police personnel have been deployed in Bantwal and B C Road. Following the imposition of Section 144 with prohibitory orders all the shops in the region downed shutters.

Police said that the situation was under control and senior officials, including superintendent of police Dr A S Rao, visited the place.

Same kind of disturbance happened in bangalore couple of days back when god ganesh immersion procession was taking place, it was not a controversy as it was done against the majorities, if at all these kind of situations had hapnd to the minorities it would have been a major controversy. hope the minorities learn to live in peace with these kind of examples though some of their miscreants cause trouble

Any minor skirmish turns communal when two community people are involved. That is the sadest part in D.K. and Udupi District. People take anti advantage of Political Party''s support for their animalistic behaviour. Since the situation in these two districts are explosive in nature, Police must act Fast and Apropriate to defuse the situation.

No doubt this sort of communal disturbance has become a norm in Mangalore and around. What''s worrying is - How long will the general public take this silently, until one day they resort to retaliation in mass??? Should''nt the RSS, Bajrang Dal, Ram Sena and the muslim fundumentalists think about it? Public fury if united could have a telling effect on all these nuisance organizations and we are sure, this is not too far away. Mangalore and around, could turn into a battle field sooner or later. When it does, GOD save these organization members!!!

I wish and pray Almighty that may peace be restored in our native. We have the most blessed Holy Ramadan and most blessed Holy Dasara ahead. Let us unite together and not give a single chance to perpetrators of violence. We have goverment administration to punish the violators of law and let general public not retaliate and create more harm to the society.

I would request local administration to give a awareness programmes to general public in calming down tensions. Everyone of us has a responsibility to maintain peace and order in our society (a) Be calm. stop rumours spreading around (b)Do not wander around unnecessarily when tension exists c) Inform Police Department immediately should you find any suspicious activities around your place (d)Always think that only few benefit with clashes temporarily but many innocent lose permanently. I am sure that our local administration will definitely end these perpetrators'' dirty goals. Bholo Bharat Mata ki Jai.

In the communally surcharged atmosphere-Games or Sports Spirit is the first casualty. Hope sane elements in all the communities, who are the silent majority would come forward along with the leaders & bring any future troubles under control. It is better to nip these things at the bud.
