The state government has appointed retired officer Ibrahim Koornadka as the administrator. Local people had sent him back when he arrived to the dargah on November 20. When the dargah president took legal assistance in this connection, the assistant commissioner had held a meeting of darga office bearers and asked to hand over charge on December 2. As the news went public, anguished local people have closed all the dargah gates since the last one week and are waiting to stop the administrator in front of the main entrance.

Charitable trust vice president Mustafa Abdulla said that people of various religions are worried as the government has appointed administrator though people have elected representatives for dargah committee. “The deputy commissioner has asked to leave darga management. Do not to trouble the officer if he comes. Let us send him back peacefully without allowing him to run the administration,” he said.

‘Let the assurances be realized’

Member Faruk Ullal said that police records show that not even a single communal disturbance has taken place in Ullal during the last three and a half years. I have faith that MP, in charge minister and MLA have understood the feelings of people in Ullal. The assurances by them should be realized. President Abdul Rashid and current committee should continue till Uroos,” he said.

Protection of dargah only by Madani

Darga management committee president Abdul Rasheed in his reaction said that the state government has asked to hand over management to wakf committee officer even though the dargah has elected representatives. “Legal assistance is being sought in this connection. Meanwhile devotes who came to know of the appointment of official have gathered in front of the dargah and are determined not to hand over dargah administration to him. The people who had gathered have been sent back after opening the gate with the belief that only Sayyed Madani Tanjal will protect the dargah. But the official has not arrived till now,” he said.
